Stages of lung development. 1-4 months - pseudoglandular
- precursors of bronchi branch in mesenihyme. 4-7 months -
canalicular phase - progressive growth of capillaries to form blood air
barriers and beginning differentiation of alveolar epithelium. Past
7 months saccules (alveolar ducts) are present and alveoli begin to
form. Formation of alveoli continues to age 3 or 4 years. |
