Lung Development

Stages of lung development.
1-4 months
- pseudoglandular - precursors of bronchi branch in mesenihyme.
4-7 months
- canalicular phase - progressive growth of capillaries to form blood air barriers and beginning differentiation of alveolar epithelium.
Past 7 months
saccules (alveolar ducts) are present and alveoli begin to form.
Formation of alveoli continues to age 3 or 4 years.
