Renal Dysplasia

Renal dysplasia is the result of abnormal differentiation of cells. A requirement for histologic diagnosis is the presence of primitive tubules (arrowhead) surrounded by primitive mesenchyme (short arrows). Cartilage (long arrow) is not always present. Dysplasia usually, but not always, is accompanied by cysts.
