Overview | Teaching | Publications

My primary research focus has been on the benefits of extracurricular activity participation, particularly sport, for youth development. I however am also interested in mindfulness based stress reduction and other stress reducing strategies and their application to maternal stress and smoking during pregnancy. The overarching aim of my research is to help individuals adapt to and thrive in their contexts.

Biography

Academically my interests are in the benefits of extracurricular activity for youth development. I am also interested in stress reduction interventions, particulalry among low-income populations. I love teaching psychology and statistics, and conducting data analysis.

Teaching Experience

My undergraduate teaching experience includes introduction to psychology, health psychology/behavioral medicine, sport and exercise psychology, human development, adolescent development, counseling psychology, and statistics. At the graduate level I have taught human behavior from a developmental perspective, research methods, learning and cognition, statistics, and seminars on addictions and grant writing.
