Research Description

Ana Abrantes is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown Medical School and a Research Psychologist in the Addictions Research Group at Butler Hospital. Dr. Abrantes is currently involved in the development of cognitive-behavioral and aerobic exercise interventions for individuals with addictive behaviors and mental health problems.

To obtain training in smoking and exercise intervention research through career development activities and expert mentoring. To conduct a preliminary randomized clinical trial examining the efficacy of a behavioral exercise intervention for cigarette smokers.

Testing the Efficacy of an Exercise Intervention for Patients with OCD
The purpose of this study is to conduct a randomized, controlled trial to test the efficacy of an exercise intervention versus a health education control for patients with clinically significant OCD symptoms despite engaging in recommended doses of pharmacotherapy and/or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
