Master of Public Health Program
Curriculum Overview
All students in the Brown MPH Program take core courses designed to give them analytical skills and knowledge in core areas of public health. In addition, each student works with an advisor to plan electives, internships and the development of a thesis around the student's educational goals and interests. Rather than tracks in specific public health areas, we emphasize individually tailoring our students’ academic experience.
MPH Degree Requirements
The MPH Program begins in their first summer, with a six week, full time internship in Public Health. For students entering the Brown MPH Program, this Public Health Internship begins on Monday, July 18, 2005 with a full day orientation.
Non-doctorally prepared students are required to take twelve courses, two internships and complete a thesis. Physicians and students with doctoral degrees in health related fields who have appropriate backgrounds are required to take eight courses. Two internships are required, unless waived because the student has an equivalent training experience. All students are required to complete a thesis.
