Master of Public Health Program


Application to MPH Program.

Applications should be completed on line through the Graduate School website. There is a $70 application fee. In addition to the online application, the following materials are required:

  • Undergraduate, graduate, or medical school grades (whichever is most recent) and GPA,
  • GRE: General test is required except for medical school graduates who may substitute the MCAT. Only the general GRE test is required, though subject scores will be considered if taken
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Demonstration of potential to undertake analytic studies
  • Personal statement for understanding of public health and commitment to pursuing a career in public health
  • Relevance of education and/or experience to pursue a career in public health
  • Willingness to undertake community service or demonstration of significant past community service experience

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis from January through May, or until the class is filled. Applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid from Brown should submit completed applications no later than January 2, 2005 as support for financial assistance is limited and may not be available for later applicants. The Admissions Committee for the MPH Program is composed of public health professionals with experience in public health research and practice. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree as well as experience and/or interest in public health. Admission requires evidence of quantitative abilities and a commitment to public health through previous course work, independent study, and/or experience.

Interviews are not required as part of the application process. However, if applicants would like to visit the Brown campus to learn more about the MPH Program, this can be arranged through the MPH Program Coordinator.
