Sexual Harassment Policy

The Medical School's policies and procedures regarding sexual harassment are part of those for the College. Brown has an established Sexual Harassment Complaint Procedure, with persons designated to hear informal students' complaints, to counsel and advise the students concerned, and to assist with formal grievance resolution. For the University's complete document, see the Brown University Sexual Harassment Policy.

Medical students who are aware of or who have experienced an incident of sexual
harassment or sexual assault, should promptly report the matter, either through informal or formal routes. The informal mechanism allows the student to receive personal guidance and support.

Professor Jane Eisen (Jane_Eisen@brown.edu) is Chief Ombudsperson for student mistreatment issues.
Appropriate Treatment of Medical Students

Medical students with any level of concern or need for clarification pertaining to these areas are encouraged to contact Dr. Eisen to discuss their options. Included in that discussion will be a description of the reporting mechanisms.
