2013 AAMC Mid-Career Women Faculty Seminar

The Mid-Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar is a three-and-a-half day program designed for women holding medical school appointments at the associate professor level, and holding leadership positions within their discipline, department or institution. Assistant profesors and full professors may be considered based on experience.

The program goal is to enhance knowledge and skills needed to support progress along the path to leadership in academic medicine. The seminar covers leadership topics including but not limited to: "The Art and Style of Interpersonal Communication", "Managing from the Middle", and "Financing the Academic Mission". Additionally, the seminar offers skills related to the formation and use of teams, which are central to effective collaboration in various mission-critical activities.

Small group "idea factories" will serve as venues for participants to work in small groups to brainstorm ways to advance women in academic medicine and science.

The online application period will close on October 1, 2013.

Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine

The Hedwig van Amerigen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women, 2013-2014 is a national leadership training program aimed at preparing senior women faculty for the highest administrative ranks at academic health centers. ELAM is a core program of the Institute of Women's Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. The program seeks candidates at the associate professor or full professor level who demonstrate the greatest potential for assuming leadership positions within the next five years. Candidates must also have the support of their Dean, Chair, and institution. The online application for the 2013-2014 ELAM Fellowship year is now CLOSED.
