Title: Division Director - Reproductive EndocrinologyThe Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be eligible for appointment to the academic rank of Associate Professor or full Professor on the faculty of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in either the Teaching Scholar or Research Scholar track. Physician must possess or be eligible for medical license in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He/she must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and have successfully completed a fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology. The Division Director is employed by Women & Infants Hospital and reports to the Chair/Chief of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
The Division Director will be expected to spend 60% time on administrative, teaching, and research efforts with the remaining 40% time devoted to clinical care. These percentages may be adjusted by the Chair as deemed appropriate.
Administrative and inter-personal skills are necessary in order to manage and advance the Division within the Department, the hospital, and the medical school. The Division has ongoing major programs in Assisted Reproduction (including IVF, ICSI and Assisted Hatching), infertility surgery and the treatment of the menopause and other endocrinologic conditions. The REI Division currently provides academic and clinical services to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts Medical School/New England Medical Center. The Division Director will be expected to manage and/or oversee the management and continued success of these clinical programs, and the development of new programs as appropriate, including the maintenance of appropriate approvals from licensing agencies. The Division Director will be responsible for developing and ensuring the continued success of the Division’s research and teaching activities, and for faculty development within the Division. The Division Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Division in the context of a health care environment which presents increasingly complex challenges to academic medicine. The Division Director will be responsible for budgeting and strategic planning within the Division.
The Division Director will be responsible for clinical quality management within Reproductive Medicine and Infertility. He/she will be responsible for quality review, development of new programs and phasing out of non-productive programs as appropriate, and the maintenance of clinical skills within the Division. The Division Director will be responsible for assuring that a high level of quality is maintained in the IVF laboratories, and that appropriate licensing body and regulatory approvals are kept current. The Division Director will be responsible for making certain that the Division is responsive to the changing needs of the patient population served and to changes in the health care climate, by maintaining flexibility of the clinical programs. The Division Director will be expected to maintain 40% clinical effort within the division.
The Division has teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as continuing medical education within the hospital and medical school. The Division Director will be responsible for achieving and maintaining high quality educational programs in all of these areas. The Division Director will be responsible for maintaining a board approved fellowship program in REI.
The Division Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining high quality clinical and laboratory investigative activities within the Division. One of the primary missions of the Division is to add to the body of knowledge regarding Reproductive Medicine and Infertility.

Title: Postdoctoral Research FellowThe candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in toxicology, molecular or cell biology, or biochemistry. Ability to design and analyze experiments and to prepare manuscripts for publication is required. Instruction in preparation of research grant applications will be provided with the expectation of grant submissions after one to two years.
This training provides the opportunity to develop an independent research project using the tools of cell biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology, and molecular epidemiology to study the basic mechanisms of disease related to environmental exposures. Strong emphasis is placed on career development, communication skills, grantsmanship, interdisciplinary research, and implications of basic research for diagnosis and prevention of human disease. Opportunities are provided for clinical and translational research collabortations at Rhode Island Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital, as well as field work and community outreach in Rhode Island in collaboration with the Brown Superfund Basic Research Program. The faculty have active, well-funded research programs and access to modern research facilities equipped for quantitative imaging; laser capture microdissection; genomics, epigenomics, and proteomics; flow cytometry; and transgenic animal models.
Eligible candidates will be considered for training grant support provided by the NIEHS Training Program in Environmental Pathology.

Title: Pediatric Hematologist/OncologistThe successful candidate must qualify for a full time medical faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The candidate would join 5 full time faculty, 3 fellows, 5 nurse practitioners, and a fully staffed multidisciplinary team that ensures high quality, patient focused care. There are designated programs in hemophilia, sickle cell disease/hemoglobinopathy, neuro-oncology, and the long term effects of childhood cancer. Correlative and translational laboratory efforts will also be supported. This position allows 20% protected time for research with the potential for additional research time based on funding. This is an intermediate level position that will include opportunity for administrative and leadership growth within the division.
Specifics:
1. Share basic inpatient and outpatient teaching responsibilities with inpatient and outpatient care and teaching responsibilities with other members of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital of Rhode Island Hospital.
2. Participate in supervision of hematology/oncology fellow, resident and medical student care of pediatric patients in all relevant areas of the Hasbro Children’s Hospital of Rhode Island Hospital.
3. Participate in curriculum development, advising, and teaching of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University medical students and those from other programs in all aspects of pediatric experience.
4. Initiate and carry out a plan of research/scholarly activities in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology or a related area in concert with other staff members, apply for research funds, and write for peer-reviewed publications.
5. Maintain positive working relationships by:
a. attending and participating in Faculty and Staff meetings;
b. serving on Medical School, Hospital and Department committees;
c. assisting as much as possible as fellow faculty pursue assigned leadership roles;
d. working closely with the Director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the Chairman of Pediatrics of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University to facilitate the achievement of the Division and Department’s mission.

Title: Transplant SurgeonOVERVIEW OF POSITION (100 % time)
The Department of Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a Renal and Pancreas Transplant Surgeon to begin as soon as October 2012. Board Certification or eligibility in General Surgery is expected. Successful completion of an ASTS approved fellowship in multi-organ transplantation is required. Demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching of residents and medical students at all levels of medical training is required. The program involves a full scope of transplant activities and care for patients with ESRD. One part-time and two full-time nephrologists, a dedicated transplant ID physician, and three nurse coordinators staff the program, which was established in 1997. The candidate would join Paul Morrissey, M.D., who serves as Director of Transplant Services at Rhode Island Hospital. The group performs 25-35 deceased donor transplants and 25-30 live donor transplants and nephrectomies annually.
TEACHING AND ADMINISTRATION (30 % time)
Applicants must qualify for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at Brown. The position includes an academic appointment in the teaching scholar track at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Activities in include surgical care of patients with ESRD including living kidney donation (open and laparoscopic), renal transplantation (pediatric and adult), dialysis access and general surgery in patients with end stage renal disease. Instruction of medical students and surgical residents is expected as well as participation in department rounds and regional transplant activities. RESEARCH (10 % time)

Title: Urologic OncologistThe incumbent will be expected to participate in a wide range of clinical, research, teaching and administrative duties. 1. CLINICAL (60% of designated time) *The physician will participate in the weekly Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Clinic (GUMDC) with a team of physician specialists in genitourinary oncology including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and oncologic urologists. The physician will participate in the care of patients with prostate, urothelial, testis, kidney, penile, and urethral cancer. A typical session involves caring for 3-5 new patients and 5-8 follow-up patients. Time commitment is on half day session per week. *The physician will provide hematology consultations for patients as part of the preoperative assessment for orthopedic procedures. This service is part of the continuum of care for orthopedic patients as part of The Miriam Hospital's center of Excellence in orthopedics. The care will focus on preoperative coagulation assessments and anemia evaluations. One objective is to reduce transfusions requirements in the peri-operative and postoperative periods. Time commitment is one half days session per week. *The physician will also participate in 4 additional half day patient care sessions per week. While patients will have a wide range of hematology and oncology diagnosis, the focus will be in genitourinary oncology and benign hematology. *The physician will participate as the ward attending for 2 months per year. Clinical duties will include supervising the care of inpatients on the hematology and oncology teaching service, caring for inpatients on the hematology and oncology non-teaching service, performing inpatient consults on patients with hematology and oncology problems. While performing inpatient duties, outpatient sessions will be reduced. 2. RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY (20% protected time) *The physician will be expected to establish an independent investigative program, preferably focusing on genitourinary oncology research. The research efforts will include clinical, outcomes and translational research. Title: Division Director, Ambulatory Obstetrics & GynecologyThis position will oversee two clinical units - the Women's Primary Care Center (WPCC) and the Women's Emergency Care Unit (Triage). The ideal candidate will have a passion for healthcare for low income and medically high risk women and a strong interest in optimizing healthcare models, program development, and quality initiatives for women's ambulatory services. The position is responsible for the development of education, research, and faculty mentorship within the division. In addition, is integral in the academic development of OB/GYN residents, medical students, and other residents. The WP CC is the site of the continuity and ongoing ambulatory care experience for the residents and medical students, and has an annual volume of 32,000 patient encounters. Particular strengths of the WPCC are integrated prenatal care, pelvic pain, family planning, vulvar disease, colposcopy, and treatment of preinvasive disease. The Triage unit specializes in acute treatment for gynecologic and obstetric conditions and has an annual volume of 27,000 patient encounters. Residents and medical students are involved in all aspects of the Triage unit. REPORTS TO: Obstetrician & Gynecologist-in-Chief/Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Title: Division Director, Center for Women's Gastrointentinal DisordersADMINISTRATION: The incumbent will report to the Chief of Medicine of Women & Infants Hospital and to the Chairman of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The incumbent will be responsible for the administration of quality assurance, charting, conferences, program development, service lines, tumor board, etc. Total Administrative Activity = 10% CLINICAL: The incumbent will serve as an attending physician in the Center for Women's Gastrointestinal Disorders, providing 3-4 outpatient sessions per week, and providing 2-3 endoscopy procedures sessions per week, 45 weeks per year. The incumbent will serve as an attending physician on the inpatient GI consultation service 3-4 months per year. Total Clinical Activity = 60%. JOB DESCRIPTION: Serve as an attending physician in the Department of Medicine, in the Center for Women's Gastrointestinal Disorders at Women & Infants Hospital. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, and a commitment to scholarly participation in the clinical programs of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Experience in outpatient clinical practice, inpatient service, and teaching is highly desired. Total Teaching Activity = 10% The incumbent will teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the outpatient faculty practice, endoscopy suite, and on the inpatient units. Title: Family Medicine Physician ResearcherThe general purpose will be to participate in research, educational and clinical programs with the primary focus on research relevant to Family Medicine.
