St. John's University (SJU)
, Queens, New York, is a private, coeducational, Roman Catholic University
founded in 1870 by the Vincentian Community. More than 21,000 undergraduate and graduate students
are enrolled at SJU’s six campuses (Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Oakdale, N.Y.; Rome, Italy;
Paris, France). St. John's University offers comprehensive and varied academic programs that include
more than 100 majors and concentrations. In 2011, St. John's was ranked as a Tier One university by
U.S. World News' college rankings.
York College of the City University of New York (CUNY), Queens, New York is one of eleven senior
colleges in the CUNY system. Founded in 1966, York was the first senior college founded under the
newly formed CUNY system, which united several previously independent public colleges into a single
public university system in 1961. With a current enrollment of more than 7,780 students, York serves as
one of CUNY's leading liberal arts colleges, granting bachelor's degrees in more than 40 fields, including
those in the Health Professions and Nursing (BS).
North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T),, Greensboro, North Carolina. NC A&T is a land-grant
university located in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is the largest publicly funded historically black
college in the state of North Carolina. Established in 1891 as The Agricultural and Mechanical College for
the Colored Race, NC A&T currently offers 117 undergraduate degree programs, more than 58 master’s
degree programs, and Ph.D. programs in a comprehensive range of academic disciplines. It is the
nation's top producer of minorities with degrees in the STEM fields (science, mathematics, engineering
and technology).
The College of Mount Saint Vincent (MSV), Bronx, NY. Founded in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of
New York, MSV is a Catholic liberal arts that serves the emerging populations of the New York area.
Today, the school serves 1,800 students, with professional undergraduate programs in nursing, business,
communication, and education. In addition, the college offers a strong liberal arts undergraduate
curriculum with distinctive strengths in biology, biochemistry, English, psychology, and sociology. The
College also offers graduate degree programs in nursing, business, education and TESOL (Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages).
