The Graduate Student Advisory Committee is a group of graduate students who have volunteered to meet periodically with the Associate Dean for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies with the goal of enhancing the BioMed graduate student experience at Brown. Joe Bahlman, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
Research Interests: Joe is interested in the anatomy and aerodynamics of bat wings. He uses physical models to determine how different wing morphologies and wing kinematics affect the aerodynamic force produced (benefit) and mechanical power required (cost) from flapping bat-like wings.

Megan Bowers, Biomedical Engineering
Megan is a 4th year PhD student in biomedical engineering. She works in a bioengineering lab that is part of the Department of Orthopaedics at Brown Alpert Medical School/Rhode Island Hospital. Her work is focused on using imaging measures like MRI to understand why and how individuals develop knee osteoarthritis after common sports injuries like ACL tears and meniscus tears.
