Overview | Research | Grants/Awards | Publications

Subacromial Impingement syndrome (ie. subacromial bursitis and rotator cuff tendinitis) is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints. Chemokines and their receptors (SDF-1, IL-1) present in the subacromial bursa are important in mediating the inflammation that occurs in subacromial bursitis. By targeting inhibition of the SDF-1/IL-1 pathway, new pharmacologic agents, with fewer side effects than NSAIDs and steroids, may be designed to treat this most common and painful condition.
