Jeanne McCaffery's research interests are twin and family studies and molecular genetics in cardiovascular behavioral medicine. Recent projects include: environmental contributions of socioeconomic status to health behaviors and cardiovascular disease, and DNA variation that predicts depression and physiological responses to psychological stress and DNA variation that predicts ability to lose weight.

Biography

Jeanne McCaffery, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at The Miriam Hospital and The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. She received her PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and completed her clinical internship at the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium in 2001. She received The Bruce M. Seyla for Research Excellence from Lifespan Hospitals in 2009 and the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Health Psychology, Junior Division from the American Psychological Association, Division 38 (Health Psychology) in 2011. Her research interests are twin and family studies and molecular genetics in cardiovascular behavioral medicine. Recent projects include: environmental contributions of socioeconomic status to health behaviors and cardiovascular disease, genetic variation that contributes to depression among cardiac patients and genetic variation that contribute to the ability to lose weight. She has published over fifty empirical articles and has served a principal investigator or co-investigator on multiple grant awards from the National Institutes of Health.
