Planning Design and Construction
BioMed Facilities Planning and Operations (FPO) acts as the Division's advocate for all projects and partners with the University Facilities Management Office of Planning, Design and Construction to facilitate all stages of construction and renovation projects for the Division of Biology and Medicine.
FPO acts as the primary contact and coordinates projects through initiation, planning and programming, design review and construction delivery. As the principal advocate, FPO acts on behalf of the Division's students, faculty and staff to ensure that all program needs, whether educational, research-based or administrative, are being met.
We use our expertise to lead the process in defining a project's primary objectives, identifying users' specific needs and developing solutions that meet the specialized requirements of both the users and their respective departmental programs.
Each year, FPO uses its extensive experience to facilitate the progress of an average of 40 projects, ranging through pre-planning, design, construction and delivery. These projects range widely in size and scope, from small-scale office renovations to the large-scale design of scientific research and instruction facilities. The FPO staff collectively draw on their comprehensive skill sets to ensure that each project unfolds and advances efficiently and effectively.
