Dean’s Excellence Award in Teaching, Advising, and Mentoring

The Dean's awards for excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring were instituted in 2010 to recognize outstanding contributions in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in the Division of Biology and Medicine. The awards are made in recognition of the faculty leaders in the Division who demonstrate a commitment to teaching that goes above and beyond the call of duty. The process begins with a call for nomination in February then a rigorous process of selection by committee for each area. In Biology, the Curriculum Committee reviews the nominations for the Undergraduate Award and Dean Harrington assembles a committee that reviews the nominations for the Graduate and Postdoctoral Award. Public Health also convenes a selection committee comprised of the Associate Dean of Medicine for Public Health (Committee Chair), Undergraduate Concentration Advisor, Directors of the MPH and PhD Programs in the four departments along with awards winners of the past three years.
