May 21, 2012 - The Darling Lab article "Cellular mechanical properties reflect the differentiation potential of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells" was accepted for publication in PNAS. Congratulations to authors Rafael Gonzalez Cruz, Vera Fonseca, and Dr. Eric Darling! The link to the Brown University Media Release can be found here.

 

January 23, 2012 - Dr. Darling was awarded a Brown University Salomon Award to investigate how molecular beacons can be used for lineage-specific stem cell enrichment.

 

January 17, 2012 - The Darling Lab article "Force scanning: A rapid, high-resolution approach for spatial mechanical property mapping" was selected for Nanotechnology's Highlights 2011 Compilation. This collection includes articles that received an excellent response from the nanotechnology community and were highly commended by the journal board. 

 

January 17, 2012 - Vera C. Fonseca nominated for the 2011 Brown University Excellence Award in the category of efficiency.

 

January 7, 2012 - Dr. Darling received a Rising Star Award at the BMES-SPRBM Conference on Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

 

December 12, 2011 - Hetal Desai was selected to participate in the Brown Executive Scholars Training Program (BEST) for the 2011-2012 cohort.

 

May 1, 2011 - Hetal Desai, Olivia Beane, and Nick Labriola were elected President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Brown University Graduate Biomedical Engineering Society, Brown's BMES chapter. 

 

March 8, 2011 - Hetal Desai received the Pharmacia-Upjohn Predoctoral Fellowship for the department of Molecular Pharmacology, Physiology and Biotechnology. 

 

September 1, 2011 - Hetal Desai was placed on a Ruth L. Kirchstein T32 Predoctoral Training Grant for Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology.
