Summer Institute in Clinical, Translational and Health Services Research

In 2009, Brown University developed a rigorous, six-week Summer Institute in Clinical, Translational, and Health Services Resaerch. This Institute is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills needed to conduct clinical, translational, and health services research. The Institute is open to basic scientists and clinicians and is targeted to doctorally trained students, and faculty from a range of relevant disciplines
Two core courses are required of all individuals participating in the Summer Institute:
- Research Methods in Clinical, Translational, and Health Services Research (PHP2460) - This research methods course takes an applied approach to understanding research methods used in health research.
- Scientific Writing, Research Presentation, and Proposal Development (PHP2090) - This course helps students develop their skills in writing grants, manuscripts, poster presentations, and other forms of written communication in research.
These core courses meet daily during the six weeks of the Summer Institute. Each course carries full credit from Brown University and may be applied to the Certificate Program for students who wish to continue to expand their knowledge and skills in clinical and translational research.
This year, the Summer Institute was held from May 16, 2011 to June 24, 2011. Check back frequently for information on the planned 2012 Summer Institute.
