Online Training
These online training modules were developed as an educational tool for students, staff, and faculty who are involved in the conduct of clinical and translational research. These online modules provide a general overview in select areas of clinical and translational research. No certification is provided and there is no guarantee that these modules will make the reader fully competent to perform clinical research. Individual training, which is tailored to specific research, is always recommended
The Brown University Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) online training modules may be modified and used without restriction. If appropriate, please acknowledge the Brown University CCTS.
Other Educational Modules
The Brown University CCTS online training modules do not replace Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) trainings mandated by specific institutions. We recommend that individuals interested in clinical and translational research consider completing both the CCTS and CITI training modules. While there is significant overlap between the two, optional modules differ. It is recommended that both trainings be completed, in order to develop a more comprehensive understanding of issues pertinent to clinical and translational research.
CITI training is available to Brown University students, staff, and faculty. This training is also available to non-Brown users. However, login to the CITI sites does require affiliation with an institutions. The CITI training provides a certificate upon completion.
We also recommend that individuals complete the National Institutes of Health Research Ethics online module.
