Use a particular message to create a filter for Morning Mail in Brown Gmail

Note: The instructions below apply to the new mail interface from Google.

  1. Select the Morning Mail message in your message list.
  2. Click the More button, then Filter messages like these.

  3. Enter your filter criteria in the appropriate field(s) and click Create filter with this search.

  4. Decide what you want Gmail to do when it gets a receives a Morning Mail message. If you want to apply the filter to existing messages for Morning Mail, check the box next to Create filter to apply it to matching conversations. Once you have made your selections, click Create filter to finish.

  5. If the filter was created successfully, a confirmation message will appear with a link to learn more about Gmail filters.

To edit or delete existing filters

  1. Click the gear icon and select Settings.
  2. Click the Filters tab.
  3. Find the filter you'd like to change and click edit or delete to remove the filter.
  4. If you're editing the filter, enter the updated criteria for the filter in the appropriate fields, and clickEdit filter actions.
  5. Update any actions and click the Update filter button.

You can create an unlimited number of filters, but only 20 filters can forward to other addresses.

Create a filter for Morning Mail in Outlook

Note: The instructions below apply to Office 2010/2011.

Outlook 2010 for PCs

  1. Right-click the Morning Mail message in your message list. A pop-up submenu will appear. Select Rules->Create Rule
  2. Enter your filter criteria in the appropriate field(s) and click Ok. If you want the rule to delete the message, choose Advanced Options to open the Rules wizard to access more detailed filtering options.

  3. After you have created your Rule, you will get a confirmation window and the option to apply the Rule to existing messages that meet the filter criteria.

To edit or delete the existing rules

  1. Right-click on any email message and choose Rules->Manage Rules & Alerts. (You can also access this menu from the Rules button in the Outlook ribbon.)

  2. Select the Rule you want to edit or Remove and choose Change Rule to edit the filter or Delete to remove it.

Outlook 2011 for Macs

  1. Go to Rules->Edit Rules...in the Office ribbon.

  2. Click the + sign in the Rules window to create a filter. Enter your filter criteria in the appropriate field(s) and click Ok. Close the Rules window to finish.

  3. To Apply the new rule, Select the Inbox, go to the Rules menu in the Office ribbon and Select Rules->Apply->Rule Name

To edit or delete the existing rules

  1. Go to Rules->Edit Rules...
  2. Select the Rule you want to edit or remove and double-click the Rule to edit the filter or single-click the - sign to remove it.
