The Director of Bio Med Research Administration is responsible for sponsored project activities and administration of all externally funded projects made to the Brown Medical School. Reporting directly to the Executive Dean for Administration the Director is part of the financial and administrative management team for the Division of Biology and Medicine.

Christine Conway, BS, MBA - Assistant Director, BioMed Research Administration
The Manager of Bio Med Research Administration provides research administration services within the Division of Biology and Medicine. This position manages the pre-award staff and provides guidance and assistance to research faculty and their staff on all aspects of pre and post award administration and compliance; specifically in areas of proposal development, proposal submission, and award management.

Deborah Pomerantz, Proposal Coordinator
The proposal coordinator is the initial contact for  Bio Med faculty submitting grant proposals. It is this position's responsibility to work with principal investigators to prepare budgets for proposal submission, interpret agency guidelines and assist them in all other aspects of grant preparation. Working against submission deadlines, the proposal coordinator reviews proposals for compliance with University, Division of Biology & Medicine, and funding agency guidelines.

The Post Award Staff provide financial administration and management of over $30million in research grant and contract awards for campus and hospital based faculty. They verify expenditures for appropriateness, provide PI's with quarterly financial analysis on each account, and prepare financial reports as required by the funding agency. Their objectives are to facilitate research, to protect the Division from audit losses, and to ensure compliance with all Federal regulations and University and Division policies.   Post Award contacts by department are listed below.

Kayla Sirois, Financial Coordinator
The financial Coordinator is a key participant in the day-to-day operations of the BMRA office and provides critical financial support to both the Director and BMRA staff.  Responsibilities support financial award management (post award) and proposal submissions (pre award) to ensure allowability and compliance with federal, non-federal and agency policies and guidelines. The Coordinator assists and supports with the preparation of proposal budgets, and reconciliation of grant accounts in accordance with federal and non-federal guidelines.
