Goals:
Establish clear procedures and processes, account accurately for financial activities, and provide best possible customer-oriented services.
Responsibilities:
In accordance with Brown University's general financial accounting policies and procedures, BMFS plans and oversees the Division's budget, manages its overall financial activities, and provides a range of financial services to its faculty, staff and students.
Specific Functions:
BMFS develops and implements the Division's annual budget.
BMFS supports faculty and students in:
- Accessing their teaching and research funds,
- Servicing financial transactions,
- Monitoring policy compliance as well as financial results.
BMFS supports the academic, research and administrative units to conduct their financial businesses in accordance with the university and divisional guidelines. BMFS:
- Approves and processes payroll and expense requests,
- Ensures proper use of funds,
- Implements and assists financial systems access,
- Distributes monthly payroll and FRS reports,
- Prepares and distributes monthly transaction and summary reports,
- Serves as a resource in resolving budgetary, payroll, and financial accounting issues.
