Eduardo J. Lorente, Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, (401) 863-9564
Eduardo joined Brown University's Division of Biology & Medicine in January of 2007 as a Senior Planning Analyst in the Office of Strategic Planning. In his current role as the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, he provides decision support to upper management through a variety of operational and financial analyses. Eduardo is a Certified Public Accountant, as well as a Certified Internal Auditor. In 1998, he earned a Master's degree in accounting from Florida International University. He was later recruited by Arthur Andersen LLP where he worked in various departments including Business Process Risk Consulting, Business Audit, and Contract Accounting Services. Most recently, he spent 5 years managing and operating a small family accounting practice in Florida. Currently, he lives in Wakefield with his wife Emily, daughters Madeline and Lucia, and son Enrique. In his spare time, he enjoys auto racing and studying 19th century history.

Wendy McHugh, Director, Accounting and Budget, (401) 863-1628
Wendy joined the Division of Biology & Medicine at Brown University in May of 2008 as the Sr. Manager of Financial Services and Planning. In this role, she is responsible to oversee the accounting, reporting and budget operations for the Division. Wendy is a Certified Public Accountant as well as the recipient of an MBA with a concentration in finance. Wendy spent the first five years of her career with the CPA firm of Peat Marwick. Wendy then transitioned to the corporate world where she spent 15 years at Haemonetics Corporation, a manufacturer of blood processing equipment. Over those 15 years, Wendy enjoyed an array of different roles including accounting manager, credit and collection manager, internal auditor, SEC reporting specialist and investor relations manager. Most recently, before coming to higher education, Wendy spent 2 years at a broadcasting company, as the Director of SEC reporting. Wendy lives in North Attleboro Massachusetts with her husband, Tom and their three children. In her time away from work, she enjoys her early morning workouts at the gym, following her children and her favorite professional sports teams through the ups and downs of athletic competition and watching HGTV!

James Hutchison, Sr. Financial Analyst, (401) 863-3677
Jim joined Brown University's Division of Biology & Medicine in December of 1986 as an Accounting Coordinator, ultimately becoming the Assistant Director of Financial Services. He was later recruited by the Animal Care Facility, as their first Business Manager. In 2006, Jim returned to Finance and Planning as a Senior Financial Analyst. In this role, he is responsible for the oversight of service center rates and special projects related to budgetary projections, Division-wide reporting, and other analyses. The recipient of Brown's 2006 Excellence Award for Citizenship, Jim has served on a variety of University committees, such as the President's Staff Advisory Committee, Human Resources Advisory Board, Benefits/Wellness Fair, Health Promotion and Brown Employee Appreciation and Recognition Committees. Prior to joining Brown, Jim performed post-award administration of NIH grants at the University of California, San Diego and maintained student accounts receivables at the University of San Diego. Currently, Jim lives in Cranston with his partner Joseph. In his spare time, he enjoys antiquing and collecting Limoges, Hutschenreuther, Goebel and Lenox porcelain.

Ruth Dunn, Endowment & Gift Accounts Manager, (401) 863-3053
Ruth has been employed at Brown since 1997, having worked in various roles over the years, all within the Office of Finance and Planning in the Division of BioMed. Presently, as Gift and Endowment Manager for the Division, Ruth is a key resource for our campus and affiliated hospital based offices in matters relating to this area. She provides oversight to the processing of various donations and pledges to the Division's endowment and gifts, monitors various account activity to ensure that funds are deposited and spent in compliance with donor specifications and university guidelines and reports to management related to endowment growth, planned utilization and available fund balances. Prior to Brown, she worked as an Assistant Controller within the private sector. Ruth first pursued her undergraduate education at Wheaton College, where she studied Economics and then moved to Providence College as a business major, where she graduated with a BS degree in the field of Accounting. Ruth is married with 4 children and is a lifelong resident of RI. In her spare time, Ruth enjoys the outdoors as much as possible, discovering nearby hiking trails, biking the local Blackstone or East Bay paths and taking long leisurely walks.

Mark Rynasiewicz, Budget & Financial Analyst, (401) 863-1629
Mark has been with the Division since February 1999. Presently, Mark, as Budget and Financial Analyst for BioMed, is the Division's point person for all operating expense (2-ledger) activity. This takes Mark in many directions including financial analysis, budget creation, projection building and financial reporting. This job demands a marriage between strong interpersonal skills and strong technical accounting skills as its impact is universal through all parts of the Brown community, including our hospital partners. Prior to joining Brown, Mark spent almost twenty years in the seafood business in diverse production and management positions. He has a BA in economics from the University of Rhode Island and did graduate work in the former Department of Aquaculture Science and Pathology (currently the Fisheries, Animal & Veterinary Science). Mark resides in Kingston, Rhode Island and in his spare time enjoys fishing and gardening.

Jennifer Hadden, Financial Coordinator, (401) 863-7468
Jennifer Hadden graduated from the University of Miami in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Her majors were Public Relations and English. After working in Miami for a year and a half, she returned to her home state, Rhode Island, in November of 2004. In December of that year, she began a temporary position in the Bio Med Finance and Planning Office at Brown University. She was then hired by that office as a Payroll Assistant in October 2005. In her current position as Financial Coordinator, her primary responsibilities include Miscellaneous Accounts Receivables(MAR) tracking and reporting, payroll processing, reconciliation, and reporting, processing professional services agreements (PSA), and account reconciliation. What Jenn loves the most about her position at Brown is that she is able to apply her skills in different ways every day and there are always opportunities for professional growth. In her spare time, she likes to create beaded jewelry, crochet, read, and watch police procedural series with her husband.
