GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES

University Grievance Procedures are detailed in the Faculty Rules and Regulations document.  Access of Brown Medical School faculty not employed by Brown University to Grievance Procedures within the University is limited to issues arising in their role as faculty members in activities under the control of the University.  The following process applies to such Grievance Procedures:

  • Direct discussion among the parties.  If no resolution, mediation by Department Chair (or Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences if Chair is involved);
  • If mediation fails, formal process through the Medical Faculty Executive Committee
  • Action taken by Dean of Medicine and Biological Sciences;
  • Final appeal to Biomedical Faculty Council.
