Introduction to Policies and Procedures Manual

This Policies and Procedures Manual is a compilation of policies that relate to faculty appointment, promotions, and other issues relevant to Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University faculty in the clinical departments. It is intended for use by department and medical school administrators, as well as by chairs and faculty. The focus of the manual is on “term” faculty in clinical departments, but there is reference to Brown University Policies and Procedures that pertain to tenure track faculty, as well. This manual is not intended to supplement Brown University policies and procedures, but is instead includes issues that pertain to clinical departments in the Medical School.

The Manual is now web-based and is a “living” document. Since change is inevitable with time, the Office of BioMed Faculty Affairs will maintain this Manual on the Web. Notice will be sent to departments when changes are made. We hope that the faculty, chairs, and department administrators will bring to our attention any errors, omissions, anachronisms, or needed clarifications of these Policies and Procedures.
