Project ARISE: Advancing RI Science Education will host a one-day Professional Learning Community Conference at Brown University on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The conference is open to all middle and high school science teachers and all elementary school teachers. The workshop will focus on bringing theory to practice and will include presentations from ARISE teachers as well as Brown faculty.

Presenters include Dr. Kenneth Miller, who will discuss, “Science Education: Does it Really Matter in America Today?” and Dr. Carlos Aizenman, who will discuss, "Critical Thinking and Skepticism in Science: How to evaluate medical and scientific claims using logic, evidence and the scientific method."
