AHEC of Rhode Island Overview

In Rhode Island, the AHEC Program Office resides at Alpert Medical School with community-based centers in Woonsocket (Northern RI AHEC), Cranston (Central RI AHEC), and a center in Newport (Southern RI AHEC). The RI AHEC Program is well on its way to establishing itself as a vital infrastructure designed to provide recruitment, retention and continuing education strategies to the providers and the agencies which serve the most vulnerable of Rhode Island's citizens.

The RI AHEC network has been successful, in a very short time, in establishing itself as one of the state’s primary entities that can act as a broker/convener for academic health professions training programs, state agencies, and community-based organizations in their efforts to positively impact health outcomes for the citizens of Rhode Island.
