Cognitive Content: Applied neuroanatomy, regional head and neck anesthesia modalities, surgical staging, head and neck benign and malignant disease.

Prerequisites: Completion of Year II

Criteria for Passing: Head and neck anatomy and pathology, neuroanatomy and pain pathways, regional and general anesthesia, surgical options for the staging of benign and malignant diseases.

Criteria for Honors: Cranial nerve anatomy and physiology, head and neck fascial spaces, infections and antimicrobial options, triage of maxillofacial trauma, and diagnostic/treatment options.

Planned Independent Projects for Students: Review 5 hours of videotapes, imaging modalities, anatomy, craniomaxillofacial surgical procedures.

Description: Students will form assessment plans, selected procedures under supervision, evaluation of chronic head and neck pain pathways.
