Duration of Rotation: 4-8 weeks

Type of Rotation: Subinternship

Cognitive Content: To develop advanced skills in the treatment of patients with with psychiatric disorders.

Prerequisites: Clerkships in Psychiatry and Medicine

Criteria for Passing: Competence in clinical interviewing, diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, psychiatric history and MSE, and basic level skills in individual psychotherapy.

Criteria for Honors: Outstanding skill in the care and treatment of patients with the addictions and a 30-minute presentation on a topic of choice to the staff.

Competencies: Ability I: advanced level, Ability VI: advanced level, Provisionally approved

Number of Hrs/Wk of Classroom/Discussion:    10

Number of Nights Oncall per Week: None

Planned Independent Projects for Students: Possible clinical research on focused topic in psychiatry.

Description:  Student's primary activity will be treating 2-3 patients at a time, under direct, daily supervision of a faculty member on an inpatient on partial hospital unit.
