Cognitive Content:     The course will concentrate on the attaining of the skill necessary to perform a thorough neurologic history and exam and the application of this information to solving simple and complex neurologic problems.

Prerequisites:     Clerkship in Medicine

Criteria for Passing:     To be able to obtain a detailed neurologic history, perform a neurological examination and to synthesize this information into a rational data base and relate it to the solution of the neurologic problem at hand.

Criteria for Honors:     If a student is able to demonstrate the above skills reliably in clinical situations that demand the use of an extraordinary depth of understanding, then an honors grade would be awarded.

Description:      Student's primary activity will be learning how to take a neurologic history and how to perform and interpret a neurological examination on patients in an outpatient office setting and in an inpatient consultative setting.  Student must enroll in this elective at least 30 days before start date (preferably 60 days).
