Type of Rotation:     Ambulatory

Cognitive Content:     Didactic will consist of case-by-case teaching, as well as scheduled weekly lectures on topics in emergency medicine.

Prerequisites:     Clerkship in Medicine, Surgery and Pediatrics

Criteria for Passing:     Average skills at assessment, use of diagnostics, treatment plans, procedures, and good interpersonal skills.

Criteria for Honors:     Above average assessment, planning skills and use of diagnostics.

Competencies:     Ability II: advanced level, Ability IV: advanced level

Number of Hrs/Wk of Classroom/Discussion:        5

Number of Nights Oncall per Week:     Rotation of all shifts

Planned Independent Projects for Students:     Presentation of a topic in emergency medicine.

Description:     The students primary activity will be clinically oriented:  assess patients, presentation of cases, develop appropriate diagnostic planning, and develop appropriate treatment skills.
