Cognitive
Content: The student will be exposed to a variety of patients
with genetic disorders, birth defects, attentional and behavioral problems and
other developmental disabilities.
They will be provided with reading materials and will participate in
conferences on topics in this field.
Prerequisites: Clerkship in Pediatrics
Criteria
for Passing: Participation in patient evaluations and Child
Development Center conferences.
Criteria
for Honors: Enthusiastic participation in patient evaluations
with extra readings carried out on the disorders of the patients seen; above
average conference given by the student; work-ups and patient write-ups done
thoroughly with problems and recommendations clearly stated.
Competencies: Ability I: intermediate/advanced level, Ability
V: intermediate/advanced level, Ability VII: intermediate level

Independent Projects for Students: Students are required to research one topic and give
a 1/2 - 1 hour presentation for staff.
Description: Student's primary activity will be participation in
an interdisciplinary approach to comprehensive assessment, treatment, and
long-term management of children with disabilities.
