Prerequisites:     Completion of Year III

Criteria for Passing:     90% attendance, demonstration of diligence and effort in learning and understanding of bedside cardiovascular exam and routine cardiac work-up, and basic EKG reading skills.

Criteria for Honors:     100% attendance, excellent skills in bedside exam and understanding of routine cardiac work-up, and independent preparation of a related cardiology topic and presentation to faculty and fellows.

Competencies:     Ability II: intermediate/advanced level, Ability IV: advanced level

Number of Hrs/Wk of Classroom/Discussion:        10-12

Number of Nights Oncall per Week:     None

Planned Independent Projects for Students:     Students will be asked to give a short presentation on a cardiology topic at the end of rotation.

Description:     Student's primary activity will be working up one consult per day and presenting the case to staff cardiologist. Rounding on Consultation Service and CCU with fellows and faculty. EKG readings, basic exposure to stress testing, echo/doppler nuclear Cardiology. Bedside physical diagnosis will be emphasized.
