Course Location:  Rhode Island Hospital (this is the primary home for the residency in surgery)

When Offered:  All year

Maximum Students per Rotation:  2

Duration of Rotation:  4 weeks

Type of Rotation:  Subinternship

Student’s Primary Activity:  Students will spend time with the course leader and faculty in conference, operating room, wards, and ambulatory setting discussing applications of surgical principles. Students will perform duties of acting intern on the third surgical service at Rhode Island Hospital

Prerequisites:  Completion of Year III including Clerkships in Medicine and Surgery

Criteria for Honors:  An honors grade will be awarded in recognition of excellent clinical ability and knowledge as demonstrated over the course of the rotation with outstanding service conference presentations, superior preparation for operative cases, and effective, appropriate compassionate care of patients.
