Course Location: Santiago, Dominican Republic

When Offered: Available two months per year, generally October & February

Maximum Students per Rotation: 3 (Brown medical students only)

Duration of Rotation: 4 weeks

Type of Rotation: Inpatient and Ambulatory (combination)

Prerequisites: Clerkship in Medicine and at least some Spanish proficiency

Criteria for Honors: This elective is limited to Pass/Fail

Competencies: Ability I: advanced level, Ability II: advanced level, Ability IV: advanced level, Ability IX: advanced level

Number of Nights Oncall per Week: Approximately one/week

Description: Students will participate in the educational activities of the Dept. of Medicine at Cabral y Baez Hospital, including morning report, bedside rounds, noon conference and emergency room. Additionally, students will work two days per week at A Mother's Wish, a community-based primary care clinic. All clinical activities will be under the direct supervision of Brown faculty.
