Description:   It is estimated that 3-6 outpatients will be seen per session. Each student is asked to keep a list of patients who they see primarily. It is anticipated that these clinics are approximately four hours per week. The student develops a management plan under faculty supervision after interviewing and examining the patient first. Students will be involved in the management of all HIV issues including opportunistic infection, prophylaxis, antiretroviral treatment, HIV monitoring and resistance testing. In addition, we are the primary care providers for HIV infected patients so they will encounter issues related to hypertension, diabetes, dermatological conditions, and substance abuse diagnosis and management which is common in our patient population.
