Supplemental Courses
In the first year of the program, residents attend an AO North America Continuing Medical Education Basic Principles & Techniques of Operative Fracture Management Course for Residents, as well as a Boston Pathology course. In the second year of residency, residents attend the Dallas Short Course Orthotics & Prosthetics. They also attend the AANA Fundamental Skills in Arthroscopy Resident Course. In the third year, they attend the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Annual Meeting. Their fourth year includes attendance at the Colorado Orthopaedic Review Course.
Visiting lecturers also participate in Grand Rounds which is held approximately three times a month - September through June. Distinguished guests also present specialty seminars each semester.
The anatomy course is taught every fall under the supervision of the orthopaedic faculty. Also included are weekly conferences in hand, pediatric orthopaedics, trauma, adult reconstruction, spine, and sports medicine. Monthly conferences include radiology and pathology.
