Picture Coming Soon!

David comes to RIH foundation after a five-year research stint in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Vermont, during which time he also completed his master's degree in biomedical engineering.

His most recent project involved the comparison of distal fixation methods in nailed osteopenic femora. This study included the development of an innovative method to track six degree - of - freedom implant and fracture segment motion during both cyclical and catastrophic loading. Preliminary results have been presented at the Orthopaedic Research Society meeting, and manuscripts are in preparation for submission to the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and Journal of Biomechanics.

While at the University of Vermont, David also participated in a lower extremity risk factor study that tracked over 1000 local area collegiate and high school power athletes over a five year period to determine which of numerous variables, predisposed an athlete to a higher relative risk of ligamentous or muscular injury. This work has recently been published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine and received the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine NCAA Excellence in Research award.

David has also been involved in examining the torque rotation response of the glenohumeral joint in both conscious and unconscious subjects using electromagnetic tracking devices coupled with a six degree-of-freedom load cell. His work examining the strength, functional and biomechanical differences between the affected and unaffected limbs of patients following a total claviculectomy will be presented at the fifty second annual Orthopaedic Research Society meeting.
