The proponents of the proposition made use of their large campaign fund to run numerous ads on TV throughout California. They used a combination of celebrities, many of whom were personally afflicted with diseases that could potentially be treated with therapies arising from stem cells, as well as a long list of scientific experts. With a campaign war chest of over $25 million, the proponents of 71 were able to bombard the airwaves with a steady stream of advertising that played a significant role in the measure's passage.
