Breast Implant Poll

Two hundred college students from Brown University and a senior biology class at the Lincoln School, a coed and single-sex institution, respectively, completed the following survey. The rationale behind this survey was to investigate whether attitudes about breast/pecs implants differed between the two populations. The results of the survey are summarized below. Brown University and the Lincoln School are both located in Providence, Rhode Island.

overall satisfaction with oneself

forecasts

I am satisfied with the

size of my breasts/pecs.
I am satisfied with the
shape of my breasts/pecs.
I consider my breasts/pecs
to be firm.
I am satisfied with where
my breasts/pecs are positioned.

I would date someone

with breast/pec implants.
I would marry someone
with breast/pec implants.
Are you planning to get breast/
pec implants in the future?

If yes, why?

media influence

opinions

Women are influenced by the

media differently than men are.
Magazines such as Hustler make men
have unrealistic expectations of
the size of women's breasts.
Most men prefer women with
big breasts.
Male models make women have
unrealistic expectations of the
size of men's pecs
Most women prefer men with
muscular pecs.
The cosmetic industry exploits
women.

Women should enhance themselves if that

raises their self-esteem.
It is wrong for a boyfriend/husband
to suggest that his wife/girlfriend
get implants.
If a woman expresses to her significant
other an interest in getting implants
he should discourage her from doing so.
There is a "perfect" cup size.
If you agree with this statement,
what do you think it is?
In what order does a man notice
a woman's breasts?
I find women/men with breast/pec
implants attractive.
