The Brown Pathology Residency Program is certified by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is accredited to train up to 16 residents in a four-year program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). Brown Medical School offers a comprehensive, integrated postgraduate training program for medical graduates planning careers in diagnostic pathology.
The Pathology Residency Program is designed to help the graduate physician acquire a broad knowledge of anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine; learn the techniques and methodologies required for continued professional growth; and develop teaching skills, research skills, and critical thinking habits.
Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on developing skills to obtain critical information from anatomic and clinical pathology specimens and to act as expert consulting physicians. The pathobiology of human disease is also emphasized to provide residents with the basis to understand and advance our knowledge of human disease throughout their careers.
Mission: The Program's mission is to provide the highest quality residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, to enhance the value of undergraduate and graduate medical education in Brown University-affiliated programs, and to produce superior physicians with a commitment to life-long learning and the scholarly practice of pathology.
