Dr. Ronald DeLellis, Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Pathologist-in-Chief, Lifespan / Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, received the Mostofi Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his scholarly contributions and long-standing commitment to the IAP and USCAP over the past 30 years. He served as President in 2001-2002, director or co-director of several short and long courses, lecturer in special courses devoted to molecular diagnostics and immunohistochemistry, and moderator for numerous platform sessions in endocrine pathology. He has served as USCAP representative to the American Registry of Pathology as well as on numerous committees and activities sponsored by the Academy.

Dr. John E. Donahue, Assistant Professor, neurologist and neuropathologist at Lifespan / Rhode Island Hospital, has recently received an Alzheimer's Disease Clinical Scientist Development Award from the National Institutes of Health. He will study the interaction between ApoE genotype and permeability of the blood-brain barrier.

Dr. Jonathan Kurtis, Associate Professor and Assistant Medical Director of the Transfusion Medicine and Coagulation Services at Lifespan / Rhode Island Hospital, has received a Gates Foundation Grand Challenges in Global Health Grant. He will investigate cytokine profiles associated with severe malaria in children.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown Medical School and its affiliated hospitals is one of the top 10% of institutions in the number of first-authored scientific abstracts accepted for presentation at the 2007 Annual USCAP Meeting.
